Hiking on the island of Mainau: Paradise on earth exists, and it's here! Belonging to the Count Bernadotte family, the island has been turned into a popular tourist destination, known for the beauty of its landscape architecture and Baroque buildings.
The locals call it the "ship of flowers". There are 9 thousand plants from all over the world, from relict sequoias to a variety of flowers.
Thousands of different flowers are collected on the island, from which skillful hands of florists and sculptors were able to build real masterpieces. On the island of Mainau we will get into a fabulous world of flowers and exotic plants. Thanks to the special subtropical climate, here you can admire the variety of flower gardens - carpets, palm trees - almost all year round.
Despite the relatively small length of this magical corner, it managed to collect the most outlandish flowers, plants and trees of the world. There are tulips, irises, rhododendrons, orchids, violets, crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths. Sequoias, sakura, tangerine, mandarin, bergamot and many other exotic trees grow and thrive on the land of Mainau.
The tropical pavilion with a collection of 1200 orchids is very popular.
The smell on the island is intoxicating. You want to breathe it in and out to get the intoxicating aroma. Too bad you can't take a piece of it with you.
And what a wonderful house is built here for butterflies collected from all over the world! It is the largest in Germany and completely glass, so everyone can look at the fluttering exotic beauties, there are about 1000 of them here.
